Flags on a stick - bloghop - Welcome - first day

Welcome to the first day of the

flags on a stick bloghop

For me it has been quite a long time since I participated last in a blog hop. I am happy to be back again!
First of all, a very warm and heartfelt THANK YOU to Thearica from Pigtales and Quilts who does so an awesome job keeping us all in line and update us with all the important information.
These blog hops wouldn't be possible without Cheerleaders like you, who, I am very sure about, sweat quite a bit until it is over ;-)

So, what did I do?

I thought about doing something easter-ish, but then it is almost still 4.5 weeks until easter. I know this because I am doing lent this year, and I am down 2.5 weeks. Don't feel very easter-ish at the moment.

But my garden for sure needs some fresh flowers. Here in California, we had quite a worm and dry winter, so a lot of my blossoms are already gone. The daffodils blossomed weeks ago.

So this is my beautiful flag:

I decided to add a bag to the flag, because it looks much nicer and is only about 10 minutes of more work.

And then I wanted to something funny. After a lot of thinking, I remembered the funny text

"I cleaned my house last week. Sorry you missed it"

I found on Facebook.

Well, actually, in my house the difference between "I cleaned it last week" and "I never cleaned it since we moved in 3 years ago" would be difficult to tell.

So I thought about " I cleaned it yesterday". But then, again, I would never clean my house the day before if i want it to be spot on. The late night before might be an option if I am willing to take a risk.

You have to know, I have four kids, ages between 3 and 14. And let me assure you, they just wait for me to mop the floor, so they can spill their orange juice / chocolate milk / <imagine anything to eat or drink here> on my clean floor. To stuff a ton of dirty dishes on the dishwasher that I just loaded and run. To throw their jacket on my spotless kitchen Island. To re-heat something containing tomato sauce in the cleaned microwave, forgetting, of course, to put a lid on it. And so on.

My husband for sure believes I don't do anything to keep the house tidy throughout the day. He might suspect that I spend my time reading blogs, pinning things on pinterest, chatting with friends on Facebook, pinning, patching and sewing stuff, doing crochet and knitting while looking Downton Abbey for the tenth time. What, I would of course NEVER, EVER, EVER do - I swear!

So I decided to go with:

Sounds familiar? Good to hear ;-)

again, i added a back side:

I went with some coffee. A cup of coffee is always a good think.

In case you want to know:

my flags are 13 x 18 inches, and for the sleeve I have just sewn a stripe of bias tape to the back, about 1 inch from the top.

So, now hopp on and please visit my fellow bloggers today:

  5. I love both your flags and the coffee on the back is perfect!! I must say I got quite the little laugh from the housework phrase, that is funny!!

  6. Both your flags are just lovely. I need the second one to adorn my flag pole.

  7. I'd love to plant your funky flowers right by my front door. It's all brown and gray here in Nebraska -- especially where I haven't scraped all of the leaves up. And your housework flag is delightfully honest -- who can't relate. I think it should be totally reversible, with the back saying "So come on in, have a cuppa, and relax!"

  8. What wonderful flags! Anyone, especially those with children, can certainly relate, to cleaning the house. I worked full time and my husband worked evening shift, so I was a pseudo single parent. He'd come home from work and ask me what I had done all night. She said there were more dishes in the sink than when he went to work. Well, I guess his children had been fed, bathed, homework, played, any thing that HAD to be done and I was exhausted. I adore the flowers. I love the fabrics you chose. I think all of us are ready for spring, spring, spring! Thanks for participating again and hope to see you in more hops very soon.

  9. Love your flags...very pretty flowers. Housework? What's that? Still too much sawdust, nails, etc. kicking around to do much housework. We are still doing finishing like window trim and building cupboards to notice when I pass a dustrag...and the cat drags sawdust everywhere! But we are coming along!
