Say Kokka, say yeah!

Ich kaufe ja Stoffe meist für Projekte. Meist.

Most fabric I shop I buy for certain projects. But not always.
If the selvage reads Kokkka / Echino, it is very likely that I only buy it to have it.

These days I read: I don't have a fabric hoarder problem, I am the curator of a well endowed fabric collection. Yes, that's me!

And then, one day, I know why...

In our family room, we have an ottoman we bought on Craigslist three years ago. It looks good in the lower part, the upper part - well...
We used duck tapes to fix some holes, but tiny fingers went underneath and made new ones...

The fake leather couldn't be smoothed with leather butter anymore:

I promised my husband some time ago to make a new cover for it. And because the fabric amount I had for the dress I wanted to make wasn't sufficient, I did the cover today.

I dug deep in my holy Kokka box and made squares of all the prints I had in the awesome cotton-linnen-quality.
Then I removed the lid from the bottom, tightened the new cover over it and stapled it on the inside.

Now it looks like this:

Happy!

I am not totally sure if my husband will like it, but I think it is AWESOME. I love it! I am so happy I finally did it!

Stoff / fabric: by Kokka / Echino
I bought these fabrics over the last 7 years, whenever I found something I had to have or that was on sale. Some of the prints are bought at Glücksmarie, Stonemountain & Daughter, fabric.com, and the Intrepid Thread. The most recent prints are the honeycombs, and they are still available at the Intrepid Thread.

PS: no, you still don't see everything I have in my box.

Sharing is caring, right? Do you live in the US? Would you. Like to have a small scrap pack of leftover fabrics from this project? Leave a comment! If there is more than one comment, I will randomly choose the winner. You like one print in peticular? Say which one, I will include a charm with it!

Volle Sehnsucht!
    Liebe Grüße

  5. Tina, the cover is fantastic! I love the quilted look. The fabric choices are spot on so I would say digging into your Kokka fabrics was well worth it. :) And yes I can give home to some scraps. LOL
