Jetzt voll der Trend, und auch schon in meinem Shop zu haben: Spitzenreissverschlüsse.

Deren Verwendung macht natürlich nur Sinn, wenn man auch was davon sieht, also muss man sie ein bisschen anders verarbeiten als traditionelle Reißverschlüsse. Wie, habe ich mir neulich im Bett vor dem Einschlafen mal überlegt, und, oh Freude: bis auf 2 kleine Denkfehler klappt alles, wie gedacht.

Wie das geht, zeige ich euch so bald wie möglich in einem Foto-Tutorial.

The construction of the pouch using lace zippers has to be a little different than usually - otherwise you won't see anything of these cute little things.

I thought about how that might work out at night in my bed, and, surprise! - I was right. Two little bugs need to be fixed, but then you will get a tutorial for it. stay tuned.

I have to thank our cheerleader, Thearica, for the great job she is doing - and for following my wish to put me on the schedule for today. Thanks so much.

I have to admit that I have been a terrible participant at the

blog hop. I have so much going on, with 4 kids on summer break at home and still having to work (did you know it is a lie when they tell you home office is great for moms with kids? It's not. The kids just don't understand that you are working when you sit with your netbook at the kitchen table. And you can't really work with all these interruptions -every 2 minutes).
I wander around on all blogs, to see the beautiful creations, but usually on the run,  waiting while somebody is having a swim lesson, on the playground or wherever, but it is just to uncomfortable to comment on a smart phone - and I really don't find the time to do it at home at the moment.
Sorry for that!


So, what does my stamp look like?

It combines the skyline of my hometown, Hamburg, in Germany
(okay, to tell the truth, I was not born there, but I lived there for 34 years, so that is the place I feel at home.) and the place where my heart is now - the San Francisco bay area.

I found this embroidery file on etsy, and you can order your own state with the right placement of the heart there.
It took appleberryapps less then 12 hours to customize and deliver it!
The Hamburg skyline is a german embroidery file I found on dawanda - what is kind of the german etsy. She offers other german cities, too.
And in case you want to order something: she speeks and writes english. She initially thought I was american and wrote back in english to me :-)

The value of my stamp is forever 39. Why?
Because this joke was handed to me on a silver platter to me, as we say in German *g*
Today is my fortieth birthday. Happy birthday to me!

I have to admit I don't even want to stay 39 forever, that would mean to be stuck with a terrible adorable  two forever *uah* - I am looking very forward to my 55th birthday. Then all the children will be off to college or whatever, and I might finally get my own sewing room. Yeah! (at the moment, I sew in the entry way between kitchen and family room. And yes, that is as bad as it sounds. The first thing people see when I open the front door is my sewing chaos. This is how it looks like when it is tidied up. what it rarely is.)

But the joke was to good to let is pass by.

The stamp frame is made with a Silhouette Cameo - what an awesome toy! And I found the stamp frame ready to buy in their shop.

Grandma's best loved is a real useful shopping tote for all these grocery things you need. And, indeed, my Grandma had several like these - just not that nice. In Germany, plastic bags have never been free, you always had to pay for them, and the frugal german housewife would never have been so lavish to do so.

MMM - eventuell.

Als ich angefangen habe, war hier noch (spät) Dienstagabend,
jetzt ist auch schon 1.30 Uhr nachts.
Ich hoffe, ich schaffe es, morgen noch zu säumen, dann bin ich mal wieder beim MMM dabei.
Mit einem Klassiker.

Heute fängt auch ein  neuer blog hop names Stamp on it! (Briefmarke drauf) an, guckt euch mal um, wenn ihr Lust habt. Ich bin dann nächste Woche dabei.

Meanwhile it is Me Made Wednesday already, but I started tuesday evening.
I will have to go to bed now (1.30 am), but I want to do the hem tomorrow, so I hopefully will be able to participate.
This is kind of a classic pattern.

Arme kleine Kamera / poor little thing

Ich musste mir vor fast 2 Jahren eine neue Kompakt-Kamera kaufen, weil meine Tochter meine alte kaputt geschmissen hat.
Hat sich dann herausgestellt, dass das nach knapp 5 Jahren auch ganz gut war, die neue ist doch erstaunlich viel besser als die alte.

Leider leidet das arme Teil seit längeren unter schwerer Misshandlung, denn, ehrlich gesagt, meist schmeisse ich sie einfach so in meine Tasche. Die El Porto ist zwar schon gefüttert, aber gut ist das natürlich trotzdem nicht....

Nun hat sie eine neue kuschelige Hülle bekommen, und ich hoffe, dank des leuchtenden Neons finde ich sie jetzt auch schneller in meinem portablen Haustand (man, was gäbe ich für so eine Hermine Granger Handtasche, wo man ALLES reintun kann....)

I have to consider myself lucky, my camera never called CPS (camera protective services) - the poor thing was dragged around naked and without the slightest protection anywhere. 
I just threw it in my purse, and off we went.

These times are over, finally! It now has a cozy, well cushioned new camera bag. And what a stylish one - in neon!
I hope this will make it easier for me to find it fast in my big, big mommy-bag I am carrying around... I wish I would have such an amazing Hermione Granger purse...

missglückt / fail

Erst hatte ich kein Glück, und dann kam auch noch Pech dazu!, sagt eine Freundin von mir gerne mal.
So ging es mir diesmal auch.
Ich habe ein neues Schnittmuster ausprobiert, dass hier in den USA gerade unheimlich beliebt ist, für bubble shorts.

Das Schnittmuster ist grossartig geschrieben, und die Konstruktion des Schnittes ist auch hervorragend. Intelligent und einfach.

Leider habe ich ein paar dümmliche Fehler eingebaut - unter anderem dachte ich mir, ich könne mir das Gummi im Tunnelzug der Taschen sparen, wenn ich Gummirüsche aussen aufnähe - aber das hat nicht geklappt. Also habe ich hinterher noch mal aufgetrennt und Gummi eingezogen. Und dabei - ratet mal - VOLL mit der Ovi in den Stoff geschnitten beim wiederverschließen der Naht. Das ist mir schon ewig seit Jahren seit Monaten nicht mehr passiert. Nerv.

Aber sie waren dann doch fertig und niedlich

und alles und dann kam es:

Meine Tochter ist 2 3/4, passt normalerweise locker und gut in amerikanische Größe 3T. Und sie trägt seit letzter Woche meistens keine Windel mehr. Genäht habe ich Doppelgrösse 3/4 T. Das ist so ca. 98/104. Und was ist? DIE SHORTS SIND ZU KLEIN.
Wie gut dass ich wenigstens einen echten Luxusstoff von Kokka angeschnitten hatte. So hat sich das wenigstens volle Kanne gelohnt.
*Haarerauf*

Zudem war die Tochter unwillig und wollte sich mit der Hose an auch nicht fotografieren lassen, aber ihr ahnt, wie es aussieht...

... wie die zu kleinen Shorts vom letzten Jahr.

Und um einen Standpunkt zu setzen, hat sie dann auch gleich noch die Gelegenheit genutzt und reingepinkelt. Weswegen die Bilder oben dann auch den zwar gewaschenen, aber ungebügelten Zustand zeigen.

na dann. Suche ich mal jemanden, dem ich die schenken kann. Und nähe dann die Tage noch mal neue für meine 2 3/4 Jahre alte Tochter in Grösse 5T (110).

So, und jetzt versuche ich mal wieder, zum creadienstag zu verlinken. Mal gucken, ob es wieder klappt....

My friend would say: First I had no luck, and than I had bad luck on top.
I finally have sewn a pair of bubble shorts for my daughter. And I really love the pattern, the construction of the garment is genius.  And it is a quick sew.

Not good that I made some real bad faults, like cutting withe the serge knife into the finished pants as I tried to fix an earlier error.

But the greatest shock of all was to see that my 2 3/4 years old daughter, who usually fits great in a size 3T, doesn't fit into them. Either they run terribly small (it is a size 3/4 T!) or I made something wrong.
Looks like she is wearing an outgrown piece from last year. Bummer.

Good that I took some of my expensive nursery versery fabric by Heather Ross for Kokka - so it is at least a COMPLETE FAIL.

So I will make a new pair these days and search someone who would like to have these ones for free.
