no time, no sew

Really, I have no time to sew at all at the moment.
And I had so much to do....

Nevertheless, I decided to participate in a (german) christmas dress sew along this year. And it is not for the kids, it is for ME!

I think the last piece I sew for me was made in what? June?
Now it's my term!

If it wasn't for the sew along, I would have a new UFO by now - no time, you now! But the sew along keeps me going

Today, I basted the dress so I could try it on - wanna have a glimpse?

I love it!

I bought the wonderful Amy Butler Cameo Voile at the cyber monday sale at the Intrepid Thread - 3 yards of voile for less then 30 bucks. I really love this fabric.

Now I have to reopen the basting (sigh - it looks and feels so finished already) - after working, cooking,  homework, chores... working again.

Have a great week!

Birthday girl

Unbelievable,
but Friday my litlle daughter turns 2.

Last year she had a birthday dress made with "Children at play" by Sarah Jane.

So, this year, guess what? I choose "Out to sea" by Sarah Jane. I really love this fabric series.

The dress is done, just the buttons on the back are still missing. Tomorrow is another day :-)

A new little favorite dress

A made a special version of the little favorite dress - it is a ladybug dress:

This dress is a gift for a baby shower with a lady bug theme - isn't that a cute idea?

After adding the green velvet trim, i thought it should have a little leaf with a real ladybug, too.

Woven ribbons are not only nice as ribbons, they give nice accents as labels, too.

The backside is just plain ladybug red with black dots.

It wasn't that easy to find the red fabric with big black dots, but this is really nice Michael Miller fabric. The black one is Kona Cotton.

You can find the little favorite dress pattern on etsy (english version), if you are interested. It is only 4,95 Dollars!

If you looked at the details, you saw perhaps that this time I didn't use bias tape for the joke. I will upload a little tutorial these days nights (kids are on summer-break) how to make it without bias-tape.

I made another Lieblingskleidchen today,

but this time I changed the pattern, and instead of using bias tape,
I doubled the upper part of the dress.
I really like how it looks like now.

I used Now we are going places fabric, which I had in my stash, and I think it looks like a really nice summer-travel-dress:

My daughter was willing to be my photo model, so I think I will have to rise her allowance :-)

If you are interested, you can find the dress in my etsy-shop.

Have a nice week,
Tina
